Grain-Oriented Electrical Steel Production
|
Grain-oriented electrical steel is processed through two plants at Allegheny
Ludlum. The processing sequence begins at the Brackenridge Plant. In
Brackenridge, grain-oriented electrical steel is melted, hot rolled to
coil, and cold rolled to an intermediate thickness before shipment to
the Bagdad Plant.

Each coil’s magnetic properties are measured in the final testing process.
Based on these properties the coils are applied to customer specifications. Prior
to shipment to the customer, the coils are sent to the packaging
line to be bundled per customer requirements. The Bagdad Plant utilizes advanced
packaging technology to ensure the material arrives safely to the customer while
maintaining the integrity of the finished product.
