ATI Allegheny Ludlum's stainless
steels have many applications in water
and wastewater treatment facilities.
These include aeration pipes, digester
gas pipes, sludge transfer pipes,
agitators, tanks, screens, filters,
slide gates, ozone reactors, chlorine
and ozone mixing towers, and
ultraviolet disinfection reactors.
Type 316L is the most commonly used
grade in water treatment facilities,
but the AL 2003™ lean duplex alloy
offers strength and corrosion
resistance advantages compared to Type
316L at a comparable cost. Type 304,
Type 316, and AL 2003™ stainless
steels may also be used for potable
water distribution and can offer
considerable life-cycle cost savings
over traditional materials, such as
ductile cast iron.
